They had a dream

The late Tom Hutton and Sid Rowles had the idea that we could build a new club house to replace the old one which has had its day.

It has taken many years of discussion, thinking and planning for us to be brave enough to at last get this project off the ground. Finance was our biggest stumbling block, but thanks to the commendable work by the late David Hopkins in obtaining grants, we were able to make a start. I do hope that by the time you have read this further progress will have been made.

Our thanks must go to the Wherwell Cricket Club and Wherwell Football Club as both have offered us a loan if needed to enable us to pay for labour if needed

Both clubs have already given us most generous donations to add to The Sid Rowles Memorial Fund which was started originally to further this idea. We work on to finish this fine building to give our village a facility for sport and recreation, it will certainly be a lasting memorial to those no longer here, not forgetting our old friend Mavis Feltham.

THEIR DREAMS CAME TRUE
