KJM sponsored Wherwell clinched the league title from Hook and Newham. In a straight up league decider, which was preceded by heavy bouts of rain, Wherwell had a decisive four-wicket victory, with 10 overs to spare, on their home turf.
The Priory Stables, Wherwell
Saturday 13 August 2011There was a fist full of firsts for The Priory Stables at the novices’ dressage event.
In the Introductory A class, Victoria Bell came first, riding the North’s horse, Joules, for the first time.
Second came Sue Evans riding Brodie, who is remarkable at 26, the oldest horse participating.
Third was Stephanie Griffiths, the youngest rider. Again, this was another first – her first ever dressage test on a new pony who is only five.
Fourth was Justine Wood, again, this was her and Paddy’s first dressage event together.
Fifth came Philippa Neal riding Louis. This was rather a courageous entry on Philippa’s part as Louis has only just been ‘riden away’ (broken in and ridden without a lunging rein). He was the youngest horse in the class, this was his first event, and only the fifth time he’d actually been in the arena.
Imogen Matthews riding Chino (see photo) won the Preliminary 7 class.

Kimberley Haslam-Collister won the Sparsholt Dressage Championship with an amazing final score of 70%.
Kimberley, and her beautiful and talented stallion, Rio, qualified for the championship earlier this year, “but I wasn’t sure we would be able to compete.” she explains, “we’ve had a lot of new riders joining us recently, and I’ve been busy organising our summer events, so we haven’t been able to compete at all. Rio can tense up a bit with all the noise and bustle if he’s not used to it, but in the end he was fine. I’m so proud of him”
Inaugural Public MeetingSaturday 26th March 2011
After a very productive 'round table' discussion in the Colonel Jenkins Memorial Hall, the village is well on its way to getting a full team of NHW coordinators. Other items covered were NHW signage and branding, "No Cold Calling" door stickers, Heating Oil theft and dangerous driving incidents.
Regular reports will be presented at Parish Council meetings and appear in the Parish Magazine.
Age ConcernAfternoon Teaat The White Lion Inn Monday 14th March 2011The sun was shining and daffodils were in bloom! Christina from Age Concern Andover and District (shortly to be your local Age UK), Debs at the pub and Jane Andrews of the Parish Council, were piloting 'Afternoon Tea' to see if people liked it.
Nearly 20 people seemed to enjoy munching cake and chatting, so Afternoon Tea has become a regular event on the 2nd Monday of the month.
