Midnight in June

As I wander the garden the first midnight in June

The sky is alive with the bright silvered full moon

Take in the air so fresh washed and clear

By earlier showers blown in on westerly's here

First look one way the trees are silhouette against the sky

Now look the other silver and green they tower so high

The moonlight bursts upon a thousand sparkling gems

Raindrops left hanging from the hedgerow grasses and feathery stems

As white as driven snow the May blossom cascades over the meadows

Cowparsley and sweet scented rocket grow from deep shadows

bubbling and chuckling all dancing silver light aquiver

Flowing on it’s eternal journey winds the gentle river,
