Barbara Hutton

I feel privileged to have known Barbara for many years, it was not in her nature to be unkind to anyone be they human beings or animals. Barbara had great compassion for all, a gentle person but also one of strong convictions, with her late husband Tom the help they gave to Wherwell Playing Fields was immense. Their energy and drive helped us to achieve so much, with at times the help of all six children at our annual fete.

Tom and Barbara had that special something, which is rare these days. I find it hard to believe that Barbara wanted a career on the stage and had been accepted as a singer for the Glen Miller Band

Her family was here life and she gave absolute commitment to them, when entering her 60’s she learned to ski, ride a camel, drive a car and went back to work. Quite a feat when most of us are planning our retirement, I am only sorry that Tom and Barbara are not here to celebrate with us the completion of our new pavilion, which is now up and running, at last. What a lady, on behalf of Wherwell Playing Fields Committee I wish to say thank you Barbara.
